Aprovechando la escasa presencia de seguridad durante un acto electoral, un hombre ha disparado al exprimer ministro japonés Shinzo Abe, que se encuentra hospitalizado en parada cardiorrespiratoria.
El presunto autor del ataque ya ha sido detenido: se trata de Yamagami Tetsuya, un hombre desempleado de 41 años y exmiembro de las Fuerzas Marítimas de Autodefensa.
